Tanya Gass….
I am a governance consultant and legal trainer. I am also the NED Recruitment Lead at Women on Boards.
As a trainer, I have a reputation for making sense of the mountains of governance law, regulation and industry guidance via workshops, courses and webinars...
Past and current clients include: Royal Mail, EFG Bank, The British Dental Association, The Guild, BPP University, Pearson, Redcliffe Training, MBL Seminars, Central Law Training, The London Stock Exchange Academy, Kinch Robinson, Rosenblatt, Lester Aldridge, Hill Dickinson, Maurice Turnor Gardner, Browne Jacobson, Brown Rudnick and Kerman & Co. I also regularly speak and chair at conferences on corporate governance, diversity and NED recruitment.
My ethos...
I'm not interested in a tick-box approach to training. The training courses I design involve delegate participation, ensuring that the learning taking place is relevant and applicable. I use visual techniques to ensure that delegates get the maximum benefit from the learning experience and the learning 'sticks'. ALL my training is bespoke.
Background...
After gaining a First in Law at Sheffield University and a diploma in Legal Practice from Chester College of Law, I joined Clifford Chance as a trainee solicitor and qualified in 2000 into the Corporate department. A few dot.com floats later, I tried my hand in the stockbroking world of Collins Stewart and then moved on to Gouldens (now Jones Day) to gain experience of AIM placings and public takeovers.
In 2003, I started a new career… in training.
At the London BPP Law School, I discovered I had a talent for, and a love of, training. I taught Business Law, Corporate Finance and various legal skills on the Legal Practice Course (LPC). I joined the BPP LPC Training Team to assist with training other tutors and then latterly, was appointed Head of LPC Training at BPP Waterloo Law School. During my time at BPP, I was pivotal in developing the LPC's use of technology and e-learning. My ‘Non-Linear Thinking’ workshop, designed to encourage staff to think differently about using Powerpoint, was delivered nationwide and led to a new standard for LPC presentations.
In 2010, I took the plunge into the freelance world of legal training. Since then I have built a strong reputation for my extensive governance and legal knowledge and for cutting through the noise to help my audience appreciate what they really need to know. I now train boards of various companies from start-ups through to FTSE 250 and I'm delighted that they always ask me back for more.
In 2021, I also joined Women on Boards part-time, working with co-founder Rachel Tranter to develop Bespoke NED Search.
